And for good reason, as German online retailers find particularly attractive conditions here: The high purchasing power of the Swiss, combined with low VAT and the strong online affinity of consumers create significant sales potential via the marketplace sales channel.
Last year, eight of the ten top-selling online stores in Switzerland were online marketplaces. Zalando led the way with sales of 1.75 billion CHF, closely followed by digitec.ch with 1.15 billion CHF and galaxus.ch with 1.04 billion CHF.
